VDay

Eve Ensler began by asking all different kinds of women questions about their... vaginas. Most women hesitated at first since no one has ever asked them before, but after opening up, they spilled the stories that soon created The Vagina Monologues. These stories range from embarrassing events, to rape, to sex workers; absolutely nothing left untouched. As a one woman act, Eve traveled performing the monologues quickly gaining popularity as more and more woman wanted to perform in this progressive play. As performances grew over college campuses and communities, the VDay movement took off to help end violence against women and girls.

Today, the monologues are performed all around the globe including some performances in Afghanistan this past year. Every show raises money to help benefit a local group helping to stop the violence as well as helping out an annual spotlight campaign--this season being the women and girls of Haiti.

At the University of Toledo, this annual production of The Vagina Monologues helps support UT's Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Program. We also have sign language interpreters so all deaf community is welcome!
